今年のクリスマス・リースは、これです。とってもシンプル。

This year’s Christmas Wreath is this one.

クリスマスリースは香港でもシンガポールでも生のものを作っていましたが、ここではどこで材料を揃えれば良いのかわかりません。大きなお花屋さんがないのです。普通のもみの木だけならガーデンセンターで手に入りますが、数種類のグリーンが欲しいとなるとあちらこちらに出かけなくてはいけなくなります。それで、イギリスに来てからは作られたものをオーダーしていました。今年はどうしようかなぁ、と考えていたところに、たまたまネットでこのリースを目にして、形やシンプルさなどが気に入ったのでオーダーしました。生のグリーンではなく、偽物です。偽物は苦手、とずっと思っていましたが、これはスタイルがとても好みだったので。

In Hong Kong and Singapore, except for the first couple of years (I don’t remember what we did), I’ve always made a fresh Christmas wreath.  However, since we came to England, I’ve been ordering fresh wreaths online because I don’t know where to get fresh greens.  I can get the most common type of green in garden centres but I want to use various different ones and it’s not easy to get them because I expect I’ll have to hunt for them.  This year, when I was trying to decide where to order, I happened to see a photo of this wreath online and liked it very much.  I’ve always felt I don’t like fake flowers or greens but this one is fake, for some reason I don’t mind it being fake.  I really like the style and it doesn’t look obviously fake.

ついでに、フロントガーデンの水仙がもうすでにすごく伸びています。１０月ごろから芽が出て来ていました、今年は早いような。

When I took the above photos, I also took this photo – the narcissus in our front garden is already this tall, they started popping up in October this year, it seems very early.
