Magnolias (In Sir Harold Hillier Gardens)

It was nice and sunny yesterday so we went to see magnolias at “Sir Harold Hiller Gardens”.  When I checked my blog to see when we went there last year I fond out that it was on the 21st March but it had already been after the best time, so we thought we should hurry.  However, this year we were a bit early, perhaps it’ll be the best in about a week.   The trees on one side of the magnlolia avenue get a lot more sun so they were in full bloom or some had already started to fall off, but the trees on the other side didn’t have a lot of open ones yet.  They were still very pretty, though.  It was very sunny when we left home but as we got closer to the destination it became more cloudy and it was also quite windy so it felt colder than we expected.

Then, tea and cake as always.  When we ordered a piece of lemon drizzle the staff said it has just sold out but they had an orange cake so that’s what we had – but the texture was a bit strange.  I was wondering if it was gluten free or something but when we checked later it was actually vegan.

These are a couple of big magnolias near our house, quite a lot have already fallen off.
