今日もとっても良いお天気でした。来週はお天気が崩れそうなので、せっかくの良いお天気なのに出かけないのはもったいない気がして、さくっとウォーキングに出かけました。我が家から車で５分くらいのところにあるウォーキングコース。駐車場があって、そこに車を停めて森の中を歩きます。途中まで森、途中から小さな村になっているところを歩いてUターンして車に戻りました、４５分くらい歩いたそうです。イギリスにはこういうところがたくさんあります。ナショナルトラスト などの広いお庭の方がいろいろなお花が見られて楽しいのですが、そういうところは、少なくとも今は予約を入れておかなくては行けず、今回のようにふと思いついて行けないのです。

It was another beautiful day today.  It looks like the weather will not be so nice next week so we thought we’d enjoy it while we can and decided to go for a little walk.  There is a parking area for a woodland walking route about 5 minutes drive from our house, so that’s where we went.  I prefer places like National Trust gardens as I find them more interestig but you need to make bookings for those places at the moment, you cannot just decide to go on the day like today.

 

最初はこういう森の中。そろそろ見られるかなと思っていたブルーベルが咲いていました。まだ一面ブルーベルというほどではなかったので、ピークは２週間後くらいでしょうか。ブルーベルは１輪だとそれほど綺麗なお花ではないのですが、森の中一面に咲いていると遠くから見ると一面パープルでとてもきれいです。暖かい春らしい気候になると咲くお花なので、イギリスでは桜より話題になる気がします。

You first walk in the woods, then you’ll come to a little village.  We walked until the end of the village, then U-turned.  I was wondering if we could see some blue bells and we could, although they were not full yet.  Probably the peak will be in a couple of weeks  Bluebells, I don’t think, look so impressive when you see just a few but a carpet of them in woods look beautiful.  I feel English people talk about bluebells a lot more than cherry blossoms because I guess there are a lot of them and they represent spring.

 

 

 

 

途中、羊も見られます。もう、子羊も少し大きくなって赤ちゃんというより子供の大きさでした。

You can see some sheep and lambs in a field but the lambs were not babies now, they were more like children.

 

 

小鴨がたくさんいました、１０羽くらいいたのではないかと思います。帰りに通ったら、泳ぐ練習なのでしょうね、手前の浅いところでお母さん鴨と泳いでいました。

There were many ducklings with a mother, too – I think there were about 10 ducklings.  When we came back from the village they were, I guesss, practicing swimming in the shallow part of the water with their mother.

 

 

 

 

森を抜けると小さな村があります、村の端っこまで歩いてUターンしました。村の中にパブがないのが残念ね〜、と言いながら（笑）。

なぜか電車の車両に藁葺き屋根。１９０５年からここにあるそうです。

We walked through the little village saying what shame it was that there is no pub in there.

This is a train carriage with a thatched roof – apparently it was originally built as a carriage in 1905!

 

 

 

多分、出かけたのが午後３時半ごろ。家に戻ってきたのが４時半ごろ。歩いて喉も乾いていたのでとても久しぶりに家の目の前のパブでビールを飲みました。歩いても汗をかかずに歩ける程度の気温なので、外席で座っていると結構寒かったです。

I think we left home around 3.30pm and came back around 4.30pm, and decided to have beer in the pub in front of our house as we were a bit thirsty.  It was nice weather for a walk, not too hot, not too cold, but it was a bit chilly to sit outside by then.
