Soup & Salad

We are into November!  Only 2 months is left this year, a month goes by so fast.

After midnight last night it became extremely windy and it was quite scary, specially because we happen to have scaffolding on the front of our house as a preparation for the installation of solar panels; the scaffolding was making a lot of squeaking noises.  Because of the wind, we found some salvias broken in the back garden beds, and also a lot of dahlias’ stems broken in the front garden – which is looking quite a mess now.  The dahlias were already looking not great, probably because of the rains we’ve been having and also shorter days, so we don’t feel too bad about it, we had a very good season of them.

Today’s dinner was Soup & Salad.  Soup was Moroccan Harira Soup, which we froze a little while ago, I added some tiny pasta.  Salad was Pear, Goat Cheese & Pecan Nut Salad.  I used make this salad quite often in Singapore, but not often here in England, it’s not easy to get nice ripe pears.  We just happened to get some pears a few days ago.  They were supposed to be ‘ready to eat’ but they never are, they were very large and one was enough for the salad today and it was now sweet and juicy.  We added some dried cranberries as well today.  The goat cheese is the yellow skin one of the 2 goat cheese we bought in Petworth on Saturday the week before.
