先日、もう少しで咲きそうな蕾の水仙をフロントガーデンで発見して咲くのを楽しみにしていたのですが、昨日見たらバタンと地面に倒れていました（涙）。お友達に話したら「それは風のせいね。」とおっしゃっていました。風、ねぇ。結構強い風が吹く日も多くて、フロントガーデンはなんのバリアもないのでフロントガーデンのお花は強い風をまともに受けるのです。それほど背が高い水仙ではなかったのに倒れていたので、他の水仙も風が吹くたびにバタバタ倒れそう。

We were looking forward to the narcissus, which looked close to blooming, blooming in the front garden, but it had bent from the root and was lying on the ground.  When I told that to my friend, she said, “Ah, it’s the wind.”  Ah, I see, it’s the wind.  We do have quite a lot of windy days  and the front garden gets the wind directly as there is no barrier.  This narcissus wasn’t very tall so it probably means many more will do the same when they are tall enough.

根本の方から切って、咲くかどうかわからないけれどとりあえず花瓶に入れておきました。

I cut it near the bottom and put it in a small vase although we didn’t know if it will bloom or not.

今日はお客様だったのでお昼頃に１階にあるクロークルーム（トイレ）に入れておいたのですが、お客様が帰られた後で見たら咲いてきていました。クロークルームにも小さなラジエーターがあって狭いのですぐに温まるので、家の中で一番暖かいお部屋（？）なのです。

I later moved it to the downstair’s cloakroom because we had guests today.  When I looked after the guests were gone it had started to bloom.  There is a radiator in the cloakroom and as it’s not large it’s the warmest room.

先日も書きましたが、最初に見つけたスノードロップのすぐ近くにもう１つ蕾が出来ていました。他にもあるかな〜とざっとお庭を見て歩いてみましたが、他には見つかりませんでした。

As I’ve already written, we found another snow drop’s bud near the one we found earlier.  I walked around the garden to see if there are any more but I didn’t find any.

There are a lot and lot of narcissus stems and leaves coming out.

今お庭に咲いているお花は、（ポットに植えているものを別にして）しばらく前に咲き始めたアネモネと

Other than those, there isn’t a lot to see this time of year.  There are only 2 kinds of flowers in bloom.  Anemones, which started blooming maybe a couple of weeks ago,

クリスマスローズくらいです。

and, of course, Christmas roses.
