ハッピー・バレンタイン・デー！

Happy Valentine’s Day to everyone!

せっかくなのでどこかに出かけようと思いランチも検討しましたが、やっぱりアフタヌーンティーの方が安全（食事に行って美味しくないととてもがっかりしますがアフタヌーンティーならまぁ、こんなものかなと思えるので）かな、と思い、アフタヌーンティーに行きました。去年と一昨年は Cliveden Hotel に行きましたがもう何度か行って違うところに行きたかったので、Cliveden よりは我が家から近い South Lodge というところに行ってみました。

We wanted to take the opportunity to go out and thought about having lunch and did quite a lot of research but didn’t find anywhere I thought would be great and afternoon tea seems safer, it is very disappointing when you go and have a meal and the meal isn’t good, but you don’t expect a lot from an afternoon tea.  We went to Cliveden Hotel for the last two years but we’d been there for our wedding anniversary last year as well so we wanted a change and we tried “South Lodge”, which is closer to home than Cliveden.

ホテルそのものの雰囲気は悪くはなかったです。アフタヌーンティーは、まぁまぁ、という感じです。ソーセージロールが一番美味しかったです。やはり Cliveden の方が特別感がありますしサンドイッチなども美味しいと思いますが、我が家から２時間くらいとかなり遠いのでね〜。ロンドンならたくさん素敵なところがありますが、この辺りではなかなか洗練されたアフタヌーンティーはいただけません。

The hotel itself wasn’t bad but the afternoon tea was just so-so, the sausage rolls were the best.  Cliveden is of course much nicer in terms of the venue and the food, but it takes us 2 hours one way.  There are a lot of places you can have lovely afternoon tea in London but I haven’t found anywhere for a sophisticated one around here.
