今日は予報通り昨日より更に寒くなり、しっかりと霜が降りて良いお天気でしたが気温は低く昼間も霜が溶けないまま。この冬は霜が降りるほどの寒さはほとんどなかったのですが、２年前だったか、１週間以上ずっと霜が残っていたことがありいろいろな植物がだめになりました。この冬はどうかな？

As expected it’s gone even colder and our back garden is covered with frost.  We hadn’t had frost this winter many times and when we did it disappeared quickly, but today even the sun during the day didn’t melt it as the temperature is low.  I remember a couple of years ago we had more than a week with the frost not melting, and quite a lot of our plants were killed.  I hope that won’t happen again.

クリスマスブレイクについてもう１つだけアップしておきます。Gidleigh Park Hotel から戻って来た２７日は、丁度家までの真ん中くらいにあるドーセットに住んでいる夫の兄とパートナーと甥っこと一緒にデパートの中のカフェでサクッとランチをしました。

Theis is the last post about our Christmas break.  On the 27th, we checked out of Gidleigh Park Hotel to drive home and had a quick stop on the way in Dorset, which is about half way between Gidleigh Park and our house. Here we had a quixk lunch with my husband’s elder brother, his partner and their son (our nephew).

 

 

 

BLT サンドとコロネーション・チキンのバゲットサンドを夫とシェアー。お気づきかどうか、夫とシェアーするときはBLTとコロネーションチキンサンドを良くオーダーします。というのも、スモークサーモンやツナサンド（わたしが食べられない）を除くとイギリスのカフェにあるサンドイッチの種類は限られていて、あとは卵とマヨネーズサンド（大抵味がない）くらいなので、こういうチョイスになります。まぁ、普通でした。

My husband and I shared a BLT sandwich and Coronation Chicken Baguette.  You might’ve noticed that we seem to order these two sandwiches to share often, that’s because there aren’t that many varieties of sandwich here.  I cannot eat smoked salmon or tuna sandwiches (my husband likes them) and egg & mayonnaise sandwiches are often tasteless.  These ones were OK.

 

 

 

ドーセットから家まで２時間から２時間半かかるのであまりゆっくりは出来ず、さくっと食べて慌ただしくお別れしました。

It takes 2 or 2 and a half hours from Dorset to home so we weren’t able to stay long, so it was a very short stop.
