少し前に「最近雨も降らないしいつまでも暑い」と言っていたら、この１週間ほどはよく降りますね。少し気温が下がって過ごしやすいのですが、外出が多い方は困られていることでしょうね。あまり続くとデンギ熱も心配ですし。

Only a week or so ago I was saying how hot it had been and it hadn’t rained much, but it’s been raining so much in the last one week or so.  I personally prefer this because it’s cooler but it is inconvenient to go out.  There is also a worry about Dengue fever.

今日は、ご旅行から戻られたお友達とランチをご一緒してきました。「ホランドに新しいカフェが出来た」とのことでトライしてみることに。

I had lunch with a friend, who was away for a week or so.  She mentioned a new cafe in Holland Village so we tried it.

Patissez というカフェですが、オーストラリアから来たカフェのようで、ググってみると有名なのはFreakshake と呼ばれている大きな瓶に入ったミルクシェイクのようです。ホームページが見つからないので写真を載せられないのですが、検索されるとたくさん出てきます。（記事の下のフェイスブックのページに写真があります。）ミルクシェークの上にホイップクリームが載っていてさらにクッキーらしきものやケーキらしきものが盛られているというもので、確かに写真的には面白くてインスタグラムなどに良さそうでそれが人気なのかなと思いますがどうなのでしょう。乳製品や甘いものが得意でないわたしは当然パス。

It’s called Patissez and the thing to have there seems to be their “Freakshake”.  I couldn’t find their webpage to link to but they do look over-the-top and I guess make great Instagram photos, but not something I think I would like. (Their facebook has a good photo on the top.)

わたしは、チキンバーガーにしました。写真は撮らなかったのですが、お友達はチーズバーガー、どちらも見た目はほとんど変わりません。

I had their chicken burger.  I didn’t take a photo but my friend had a cheese burger, they looked almost the same from outside.

パンはふわふわの甘めのブリオッシュのようなパンで、外側がカリッとしたパンが好きなわたしには柔らかすぎる感じ。チキンは臭みはないですし油っぽさもなかったですが、ハーブもスパイスも使われていないシンプルなものでマヨネーズっぽいソースはちょっと甘すぎる気がしました。まぁ、普通にいただけましたしお腹もいっぱいになりましたが、また食べたいと思うものではなかったです。以前同じお友達と行ったClinton Street Company & Restaurant のチキンバーガーの方が美味しかったですし（バーガーではないですが、Park Bench Deli のチキンサンドも美味しいです）、お友達のバーガーもClinton Street Company & Restaurant の方が美味しかったとおっしゃっていました。ここはやっぱり、Freakshake をオーダーすべき？

The bun was very soft, fluffy and sweet.  I personally prefer them crispy outside and soft but not too soft inside – this seemed too soft and squashy.  The chicken was nicely cooked, not greasy or gamy, but I’d prefer it with some herb or spice rather than completely plain.  The sauce (looked like Mayo but quite sweet) was also quite bland other than being sweet.  Personally, I wouldn’t go back for this. I liked the chicken burger from  Clinton Street Company & Restaurant better and also the chicken sandwich from Park Bench Deli.  Maybe, it is their Freakshakes that are worth going there for.
