昨日、お庭のリノベーションをしてくださったガーデニングの会社の方が３名で前日に置かれていたポットの苗を植え付けてくださいました。朝９時から午後３時ごろまでとほぼ１日がかりでした。３３０個ですからね〜。でも、でも、当然ですが黒いポットに入っていたときは驚く光景でしたが植えてみればそれほどすごい数には見えませんでした。 So, 3 people from the gardening company that did the renovation last year came back to plant the new plants yesterday, they worked from 9.00am until around 3.00pm, most of the day. 家の前のグリーンに植えられている桜、１週間前にやっと咲き始めたのですが今日はもう満開のように見えました。まだ木が小さいので余計早いのでしょう。ちなみに、我が家のお庭の桜はお花が先に咲きますが、ここに植えられている桜は葉っぱが先に出てきます。 The cherry trees in the green in front of our house finally started to bloom only a week ago but they look they are full already. Honey Cake
先日のオンラインのお料理教室で教えていただいたウクライナのケーキ「ハニー・ケーキ」、レッスン中に生地を作るところまで作業をして一晩寝かせるのが良いとのことでしたが、翌日はチューリップを見に１日出かけていたのでそのまま昨日まで冷蔵庫で寝かせて、昨日焼きました。正直言ってベイキングはどちらかというと苦手分野でちょっと面倒に感じてしまいなかなか重い腰が上がらないタイプですが、生地が出来上がっていたので焼かなくては、ということで、作り始めると結構楽しかったです。素朴なケーキなので特に難しいものではなかったので、無事に焼いて、今日までまた冷蔵庫で寝かせ、お茶の時間にいただきました。 When I took my first live zoom cooking class the other day, I learned how to bake a Ukrainian “Honey Cake”. 昨日、今日、とお庭のリノベーションの２段階目の、春植えの植物を植える作業が行われました。昨日、ガーデンデザイナーさんが植える場所に苗を置く作業をされ、今日、ガーデニング会社の作業員の方達が植えて行ってくださいました。昨日はわたしたちはほとんど１日外出していて夕方５じごろに戻ってきたのですが、お庭を見てびっくり！すごい数のポットがずらーと置かれていました。３３０個だそうです。 Yesterday and today, spring planting was done. Yesterday, while we were out, our garden designer came and put all the pots where they should be planted and today the gardening company people came to plant them. Katsu Curry
今日の夕食は、夫が先日から食べたがっていたので、先日のトンカツを揚げた状態で冷凍していたので、オーブンで温めてカツカレーにしました。 カツカレーなので普通のカレーのように具は入れないものを適当に作りました。オイルでクミンシードがパチパチするまで熱したところに人参、玉ねぎ、ニンニク、生姜をサーモミックスでガーーーっとして摺り下ろした状態にしたものを加えて甘くなるまで炒めてから缶トマトを少し加えて更に炒め、スパイス類を加えて、お水を加えて２０分くらい弱火で煮てからルーを加えてマンゴーチャツネも少し加えたもの。美味しく出来ました。 Today’s dinner was Katsu Curry (Curry with Pork Cutlet and Rice) using the left-over tonkatsu that we froze the other day. Tulip Festival At Pashley Manor Gardens
今日は「Pashley Manor Gardens」というところにチューリップを見に行きました。我が家からは少し遠くて１時間半ほどかかりますが、ヘイスティングのお住まいのお友達ご夫婦のお家から近いところにあるので教えていただいて、去年一緒に初めて訪れました。 We went to “Pashley Manor Gardens” to see tulips today.
