Cumin Flavoured Carrot Soup

Spicy Chicken Sandwiches
すっかり暖かく（？）なって、最低気温が１１度もありました。最高気温は１３度、イギリスの冬は大体一日中大きな気温の変化はありません。暖かいのは良いのですが、お天気が悪くて暗い、３時半には暗くなります。この先この先１０日間、お日様マークがあるのは（それも雲から少し顔出ししたマーク）は１日だけ。でも、しばらく似たような気温なので、雨が降っていないときにお庭のマルチングは出来そうですし、ポットに球根を植えるのもやっと出来そうです。 It’s gone so much warmer now, the lowest temperature was 11C, the highest 13C. 今日は久しぶりの雨で、寒さが緩んで最高気温が１１度（最低気温は２度）もありました。予報ではこの先しばらく似たような気温（最低気温が上がるのでもう少し暖かくなる）であまり良いお天気ではなさそうです。少し晴れ間があれば、早くお庭のマルチングを終わらせたい。ずっと寒過ぎて土が凍っていて出来なかったのです。寒いお陰でその後球根の芽は出てきていない様子なのが何より。 It’s been a while since we had rain but today was a very rainy and wet day. Japanese Hot Pot (Nabe)
今日の夕食は、お鍋。寒いですからね〜。実はずっと寒いのでもっともっと頻繁に食べたいのですが、お豆腐がなかなか手に入らないのです。ロンドンのジャパンセンターから時々買っていますが品切れのことが多くて、しょっちゅうチェックしてある時に買わないと翌日にはまた品切れになっていたりします。多分コロナの影響だと思いますが、この２年くらいは全体的に日本のものは品薄だと思います。それまでは特に問題なく買えていた日本のお菓子類や冷蔵ものなどは、しょっちゅう品切れになっています。オンラインのスーパーにもあるお豆腐なのですが、なぜかこの１ヶ月ほどは見かけなくなってしまいました。お豆腐がないお鍋なんて、と思うのでたまにしか出来ません。 Today’s dinner was Japanese Hot Pot (Nabe), a perfect dinner on a cold day. French Patisserie Lesson (Fondant au Chocolat et Coeur au Chocolat Blanc)
今日はお昼にしっかり食べたので、夜は軽く。木曜日のズームでのお菓子教室で教えていただいた、ラズベリーとホワイトチョコの入ったフォンダンショコラとベビーサイズのシャンパンという夕食（？笑）でした。 As we had a big lunch, we didn’t eat much in the evening. We just had 3 Fondant au Chocolat that I baked at the zoom baking class on Thursday with a baby size Champagne. 今回教えていただいたフォンダンショコラは先生が「なんちゃって」とおっしゃっていましたが、基本のフォンダンショコラとは違ってチョコレートを中に入れているので時間が経っても電子レンジにかければ中がトロッとする仕組みになっています。直径６センチの小さなものなので、残っていた３つを１つ半ずついただきました。とっても美味しかったです！フォンダンショコラは結構簡単に出来るので、多分復習すると思います。 My instructor calls this “fake Fondant au Chocolat” because it has chocolate inside, which will ooze out when…
Pre-Christmas Lunch With Family
今日は夫の弟と奥さんと４人で集まって、ランチをしてきました。 We had lunch with my husband’s younger brother and his wife today. 去年はわたしはその１週間ほど前に風邪をひいてしまい、ほぼ良くなってはいたのですが冷たい空気を吸い込んだり話をしようとして息を吸い込むと咳が出ていて困ったのを思い出しました。そんなに酷い風邪ではなかったのに結構長引いたのを覚えています。そして、オミクロンがどんどん拡大していた時期で人に会うのがまだまだ心配な時期でもありました。今もコロナもインフルエンザも風邪も結構蔓延しているようですが、みんな普通に暮らしています。 Last year we had lunch with them at about the same point in December.
